5 Things I Didn’t See Coming Last Week

_DSC09091

Last week was an emotional week for me.

I don’t know if it was because I was delirious from the melting snow and consistent sunshine or what but a lot of things kept catching me off guard and making me cry.

I’m not normally a crier.

I mean I cry…… but not over spilled milk, or puddles or poop.

But something last week kept triggering my emotions.

Here’s 3 things that caught me off guard and made me cry last week. It’s ok if you laugh.

1. Someone called Leroy a Mastiff. Leroy and I were out running some errands and someone stopped us and asked if he was a Mastiff. I politely said no and stated he was a Newfoundland. The woman said, “Oh. I thought Newfoundlands were fluffier. (insert big pout face here from me) And that’s when the waterworks started and the poor woman looked like a deer in headlights. I felt bad for her so I explained about Leroy being sick but that he was recovering and doing much better. She was so apologetic and that made me cry more.

2. Someone asked if they could give Leroy a treat. Same day and store as above but several minutes later. One of the employees of the store asked if Leroy could have a peanut butter treat. I said  no thank you and explained that he had IBD and then I pulled out a rice cake from my purse and gave it to Leroy and started sobbing because Leroy totally thought he was going to get that peanut butter cookie. The employee asked me if I was o.k. and I said I was fine. I’m fine. I’m fine. As Leroy and I walked out of the store Leory was looking at me like “Are you fricking kidding me? Get it together lady. I could totally of had that treat.” and I was all like, “OMG, what is wrong with me? Now we can never ever go back in that store again. ”

3. The poop soup in my backyard. We’ve had several days of sun and temps in the 50’s so the snow and ice are beginning to melt, which is good. Believe me, I’m not complaining. I’ve been going out everyday as the layers of snow melt and I thought I was doing a good job of keeping up with cleaning the dog poop over the winter but I was wrong. So wrong. So many piles of poop and some of them I can’t get to because they’re still 1/2 in the snow and 1/2 in the ground and it’s making me mad and creating poop soup which is making me cry because poop soup is going to end up on the bottom of someone’s paws. I just know it.

4. Sherman got his paw stuck in the closet door twice. At night Sherman lays right outside our bedroom door in the hallway across from a closest. He’s been sleeping there for 8 years. One night last week as we were sleeping we heard a blood curdling cry come from him. I thought he was dying. Seriously. I thought he was having a seizure and dying. He was not. His paw got stuck under the closest door and he was trying to lift it out instead of pull it out. He did the same things a few days later when I was trying to nap on the couch. It made me cry and I told him to stop doing that because I keep thinking he’s having a seizure.

5. The ginormous puddle in the street. I didn’t see it until it was too late and a bus drove by and splashed the puddle all over me. I’m going to be honest. I can assure you that “Darn It” was not the words that came out my mouth. I cried. I had dirty melted snow puddle street water in my hair, down my pants, in my shoes and across my face. It looked exactly as your picturing it in your mind right now. I jumped, I stopped in my tracks,  I wiped my face, I cried.  Leroy was walking on the inside of the sidewalk so he didn’t get as douched as I did but he did get douched.

It’s all good.

No worries.

I’ve got a better grip on things this week 😉 It is the week of the Irish after all.

But neither of the boys are cooperating with the ginormous Irish ties I bought them so that may make me cry.

It’s too soon to tell.

I am not a crier either, but there are weeks that test even me - sounds like you had one of those weeks last week.

If it makes you feel any better, last week I was walking to work and about a block from my office a pigeon (or maybe like 10 of them) pooped on me. Seriously. It was all over my arm, shoulder, and even the cup of coffee I was carrying. I didn't have anything to wipe it off with so I had to walk the rest of the way with pigeon poop all over me. I was so mad, but trying very hard not to cry. Ugh.

Congrats on your nominations! We are routing for you guys.

Definitely sounds like a rough week, lady. And I agree with Cathy - I think a bottle of wine is in order right now!
