Homemade Strawberry Banana Dog Cookies

These low-calorie homemade strawberry banana dog cookies are easy to whip up, contain no peanut butter and make a great Valentine’s treat for the furry love in your life.

Yesterday day was a bitterly cold day and our internet was out so it was the perfect day to make some homemade dog treats.

Since Valentine’s Day is the next holiday on my calendar, I thought I would make some adorable heart-shaped dog cookies using strawberries and bananas.

I made a batch of peanut butter dog treats last week so this week I skipped the PB and opted for a low-calorie dog treat recipe and used an overripe banana.

This strawberry banana dog treat recipe only has 5 simple ingredients and they made 56 dog treats.

And of course, as with all of our dog cookie recipes, this batch was given the slobber badge of approval by all dogs participating in the taste test.

Ingredients:

  • 8 medium strawberries
  • 1 overripe large banana
  • 1/4 c of plain fat-free Greek yogurt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 1/4 c of oat flour

Baking time may vary based on how thick your treats are and how crunchy your dogs like their treats.

My dogs like crunchy treats so the batch I did was in the oven for 23 minutes and then I let them cool in the oven before storing them.

I got 56 baked dog treats but I used 3 different-sized cookie cutters so the amount you get might vary.

Storing Homemade Strawberry Banana Dog Cookies

Since these DIY dog treats don’t contain any preservatives you’ll need to be careful with storage.

These treats should stay good on the counter in an airtight container for about 3 days but they stay good in the freezer for at least 2 months.

I normally leave 2 days’ worth of treats in a container on the counter and freeze the rest.

These treats freeze well stored in a freezer-safe Ziploc bag.

I usually take our frozen dog treats out in the morning so they’re at room temperature by the time I give them in the afternoon.

Can Dogs Have Strawberries and Bananas?

My dogs can have strawberries and bananas in moderation but if you have any questions about these ingredients, always ask your vet.

It’s also a good idea to slowly introduce any new foods to your dog slowly.
