Products That Will Get Dog Hair Off Your Clothes Quick
If you already have your outfit on but of course you stopped to give your best friend a hug and kiss before you left and now your dog’s hair is clinging to your leg, I feel this on all levels.
I have 2 Newfies and a Cardigan Welsh Corgi that are master shedders and they leave a lot of pet hair behind.
Dog hair and dog drool are a way of life around here!
Here are a few products that I keep around the house to help with the dog hair that I carry around on my clothes:

Best Lint Rollers To Remove Dog Hair From Clothes
Nothing beats a good sticky lint roller to remove dog hair from your clothes and I have a stash of them in the kitchen, by the door and in my car.
Lint rollers are a great tool and one of the easiest ways to remove dog hair from your clothes and they’re cheap and easy to use.
My favorite brand of lint roller to use in my clothes is Evercare.

Evercare lint rollers seem to pick up the most dog hair because they’re super sticky and they make a pet hair version. (It’s the one with the green handle).
I use these lint rollers on my clothes, on my furniture and I even use lint rollers to do a quick tick check on the dogs after a walk!
But if you don’t have one of those handy, don’t worry, there are a few other ways you can get dog hair off your clothes without a lint roller.
Fabric Brushes
Fabric brushes or lint brushes work similarly to lint rollers but they’re reusable.
They’re usually made out of velour and they remove pet fur, dust, lint and crumbs.
They come in a variety of styles, shapes and colors and the best ones are those that have a self-cleaning base.
Tape
If you don’t have a lint roller or fabric brush handy, tape can be a great backup for dog hair removal.
The stickier the better so if you have packing tape, grab that first!
Duct tape has been known to work too.
Simply tear a piece off and pat it on your pants or sweater with the sticky side.
I’ve been known to use Scotch tape before!
Rubber Gloves
Rubber and latex is great at picking up pet hair and rolling it all together so if you have a rubber kitchen glove handy, that will work in a pinch!
In one sweeping motion simply move the rubber or latex gloves across your clothes.
Try to avoid rubbing it back and forth, just move it along in one direction.
Kitchen Sponge
A damp kitchen sponge is another pet hair removal tool that will work.
You don’t want to use a dry sponge, you’ll want it a little damp and use it in the same manner as you would use a rubber glove.
One quick movement in the same direction.
Many pet parents tell us that a damp microfibre cloth works well also!
Products That Will Help Remove Dog Hair On Your Clothes In The Washer Or Dryer
If you want to combat dog fur in the laundry, there are several products that can help minimize the hair on your clean clothes, towels and bed sheets.
- Dryer Sheets Designed for Pet Hair
- Wool Dryer Balls
- Fur Zappers
Dryer Sheets
Dryer sheets that specifically target pet hair are my choice.
I’ve been using Bounce Pet Hair & Lint Guard Dryer Sheets for a few years now.
While they haven’t completely eliminated dog hair from my laundry, it has reduced it which I’m fine with.
Wool Dryer Balls
Wool dryers are a great way to remove loose dog hair from your laundry and a great option if you don’t like to use a fabric softener sheet.
You can refuse wool dryer balls and they not only work as a dog hair removal tool but also help with wrinkles.
Fur Zappers
I’ve never had any look with using a fur zapper because I think my house just has too much dog hair for them to tackle.
They might not be an ideal option for multiple-dog households but for single-dog households, they could work.
Fur zappers are made out of silicone and they feel tacky to the touch.
They are designed to collect and hold the pet hair in the washer and dryer.
More Dog Hair Removal Tips
If you own a dog that sheds, it’s important to remember that dog hair happens and it’s going to keep happening and it’s not that big of a deal.
No dog hair hack is going to remove all the fur from your clothes instead, using a combination of these tips is the best way to tackle it.
If your laundry is still covered in hair after going through the washing machine and dryer try to:
- Remove as much dog hair as possible before you toss it in the washer.
- Rinse your clothes with vinegar
- Clean your washing machine and dryer regularly.
- Continue to brush your dog regularly
Remove Pet Hair Before It Goes In The Washer
Removing loose pet hair from your clothes before it goes through the wash cycle will give dog owners the best results.
You can use a lint roller before tossing them in or you can toss them in the dryer first.
Remember, pet hair clings to natural fabrics like cotton and wool more than synthetic fabrics.
You’ll have better results if you can remove as much clingy pet hair before the cleaning begins
Vinegar
White vinegar softens dog hair on and off the dog!
I use a vinegar spritz on my dogs after their bath and it leaves their coat so shiny and soft!
But vinegar will also soften your clothes and loosen up the dog fur.
During your washer’s rinse cycle simply add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of vinegar to the machine.
Washer and Dryer Maintenace
It’s super easy to forget to maintain your washer and dryer but it’s also very important to do when you are trying to reduce the amount of dog hair clinging to your clothes.
Pet owners should make sure to wipe out their washer and clothes dryer regularly with a damp cloth.
This will help to remove any loose hair sticking to the sides.
It’s also imperative to clean out your dryer’s lint trap before the drying cycle begins and use a vacuum cleaner on your lint ducts regularly.
Brush Your Dog Regularly
While brushing your dog won’t make them stop shedding it will remove the loose hair that ends up on your clothes and furniture.
If you have a dog breed that sheds all year round like the Newfoundland, having a good dog brush and comb that you use on a regular basis really helps to cut down on floating dog hair.
Blowing the loose dog hair out with a high-velocity dog dryer has also worked very well for us.
Dog hair happens and it’s ok!
Dogs are supposed to shed and when their hair winds up clinging to our clothes it means we’re carrying their love with us everywhere we go!
Spend less time worrying about it and embrace it!
